Sheley is scheduled to go on trial March 5 for first-degree murder and other charges related to the death of Russell Reed, 93, of Sterling. Sheley already has been convicted of one murder and faces charges related to the deaths of six other people he allegedly killed during a week-long spree in June 2008. Among the issues expected to be discussed during Friday's hearing are a motion filed by Sheley's attorney, Jeremy Karlin, seeking to delay the trial and the issue of whether cameras will be allowed in the courtroom during the trial. Both Karlin and Whiteside County State's Attorney Gary Spencer are opposed to allowing cameras in the courtroom. Feb 24, 2012

Sheley allegedly committed the crimes during a week-long killing spree in June 2008.
