It’s gospel-y, it’s euphoric. It’s fantastic, both the song and this performance. Will 2015 be Madonna’s official comeback year?
“Living for Love” is a kind of a happy breakup song, no? I’m picking up strong early Madonna vibes.
What about that voice? Total confidence! It’s undiminished, and she is determined. Going hard. Incredible.
Madge can still move. And wow -- those sparkling masks on her dancers. Antlers are handy for grabbing.
Oh, hello Madonna! Still got it, never lost it. #Legend
This is Madge’s new song “Living for Love.” Let’s check out a little background: The song is from her upcoming thirteenth studio album “Rebel Heart.” It was written and produced by Madonna and Diplo, and originally intended for a Valentine's Day release, but was rush-released because demos recorded for the album leaked on to the internet.
She's looking fierce in red and black after that matador-ish intro.
One titan of music follows another: people, it’s Madonna!
Did you know? North appears in the video for “Only One.” Adorable.
This gentle ballad has so little in common with “Yeezus,” but it’s such a beauty. Great in a vastly different way. Hats off to Kanye for his versatiilty.
Hats off to Kanye for being Kanye, and for being here. It hardly matters if he knows it: he’s truly something special.
That explains this bright, hopeful lyric: “Hello my only one/
Just like the morning sun/
You keep on rising till the sky knows your name/
Hello my only one/
Remember who you are/
No you’re not perfect but you’re not your mistakes.”
Beautiful!
"Only One" is the first song released by Kanye since the release of his sixth studio album, “Yeezus.” It’s said to be a tribute to his daughter with Kim K., North, sung from the perspective of his late mother, Dr. Donda West.
Is that a maroon sweat suit? Velour?
This is his hit with Paul McCartney, who we just saw in the audience.
Showtime! Here comes Kanye, killing it already with “Only One.”
Any fashion thoughts so far? Hits? Misses? What the hecks?
That was some kind of delivery for a broken red wagon.
OK, while we have a minute: Who is as thunderstruck by Miranda Lambert as I am?
And while we're at it: great choice of jacket. Is Sam Smith tonight's cuddliest multiple nominee?
Sweet, down-to-earth acceptance from Sam Smith!
Sam Smith does it again with the GRAMMY for Best Pop Vocal Album.
But maybe we should be thinking ahead, instead of back. Whose performance are you most anticipating? Is it Madonna? Kanye? Katy Perry?
AND they wrote socially conscious songs including "Uptown" by The Crystals and "We Gotta Get out of This Place,” by the Animals. But you may know them best by their 1986 hit “Somewhere Out There” for the movie “An American Tail.”
A little more on Barry Mann and Cythina Weil, too, should you be up for a mini history lesson. The story goes like this: Barry Mann met Cynthia Weil when both were staff songwriters at Don Kirshner's and Al Nevin's company Aldon Music, whose offices were located in Manhattan near the famed Brill Building. They married in 1961.
And while you’re doing that, let’s think over what we’ve seen so far. What about that stunning jewelry on Ariana Grande?
